Think You’re Ready for Fall Driving? Don’t Forget to Check Your Accessories

4. Think you're ready for fall driving

When the weather cools and the leaves begin to change, Michiganders start to think about winter. We at Heidebreicht know you’ve got being prepared down to an art form, especially when it comes to your Chevy. At the first sign of Fall weather you service your heaters, lay in a big bag of rock salt, and make sure your tires are in good shape.

There are a few accessories (such as rubber mats) that tend to go unnoticed. For example, when was the last time you replaced your wiper blades? The rubber part of your windshield wipers lasts around a year. A few tips when examining the blades: look out for cracks or misshapen areas and make sure the rubber flexes easily. Also, streaks or a paste forming during use mean it’s time for new wipers. Wiper blades are inexpensive and easy to replace, so if you have students headed off to college it’s a good idea to change their wiper blades just in case.

Something else to consider is the condition of your car mats. We have a lot of salt on our roads, and a worn-out mat can do more than ruin your carpet. Slush seeping through those holes puts your vehicle at risk for salt corrosion. If you see grooves where you rest your feet or holes anywhere, you need new car mats.

Whether you need new floor mats or you’d like someone to help you install new windshield wipers, your local Heidebreicht Service department can help. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff is happy to ensure you are ready for our Fall weather.
