Breakdowns always happen at the least convenient times; wouldn’t it be great if we could predict when a part on a car was about to fail? Now we can! As part of the ongoing evolution of Chevrolet’s customer service, Digital Trends reports that the company has found a way to let you know when you will be needing service before the need is critical through using sensors to compile prognostic data.
Chevrolet’s new service, called Proactive Alerts, uses sensors throughout the vehicle to predict when parts on your car will require maintenance or service, and sends you an alert to give you a heads up. The service will become available later this year, and will initially focus on the battery, fuel pump, starter, and tires — some of the parts that most often leave vehicles stranded when they go bad. If the system determined that one of these parts will soon require repairs maintenance, the driver will be alerted via email, text message, in-car alerts, or the OnStar system.
We at Heidebreicht are excited to be a part of this new development as it begins to roll out, starting with the 2016 Equinox, Tahoe, Suburban, Corvette, and Silverado models. Until you can get these advanced prognostics in your own vehicle, be sure to stay on top of your maintenance to prolong the life of your car. We are proud of our service department and the stellar service they consistently provide our customers, and they would be happy to assist you in any way they can.
