The signs of Spring are popping up all around us. Birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, and the ice has melted from our roads. It’s actually nice outside more often than not, so now’s a great time to get your family together and take advantage of some of Michigan’s nature-centric activities.
If you haven’t found a good place for an Easter egg hunt yet, pile into your Chevy and head over to Van Dyke Avenue on March 18th. The Washington Lion’s Club will be sponsoring an evening hunt on their lawn, complete with eggs, candy, and a special visit from the Easter bunny. The Lions plan to have several rounds organized by age. All the activities are free, but you’ll need to bring your own camera if you want a picture with the Easter Bunny.
The Cranbrook Institute of Science is hosting an exhibit on bats all through Spring. “Bats: Superheroes of the Night” features live bats from around the world. Professional conservationists are on hand to educate the public on how bats fit into the ecosystem, and there will be a rotating group of bats in house throughout the season. Tickets for the show run from $5-17 depending on age and whether you have a museum membership.
Looking for something a little more hands-on? The Department of Natural Resources is hosting a Stewardship Saturday at Belle Isle State Park on the 19th. Belle Isle Conservancy needs help cutting invasive plants like buckthorn and honeysuckle. It’s a wonderful chance to teach your children about the environment while spending quality time together. Bring your Silverado in case they need help carrying the cut weeds back.
Whatever you plan to do this Spring, Chevy can get you there in style. Find your perfect family cruising vehicle at Heidebreicht Chevrolet.
