Heidebreicht Chevrolet Romeo, MI, is proud to be a sponsor of the St. Baldrick’s Day event on March 14, 2015, where “heroes” are made by having their heads shaved bald. This is an annual fundraising event with a lasting impact on the lives of children with cancer and contributes to the ongoing cause of cancer research to fight childhood cancer.
An Entirely Volunteer Effort
One of the many noteworthy details related to the Romeo St. Baldrick’s Day event is that all of the work that goes into the event is done on a volunteer basis. From the organizing committee to the participants (known as “shavees”), all of the people involved with this memorable day in the Village of Romeo are volunteers. None of the organizations or individuals associated with this St. Baldrick’s Day fundraiser receives financial compensation for participation – all of the funds raised are used to combat childhood cancer. Michael Fiscus, the Volunteer Event Organizer for the Romeo St. Baldrick’s Day fundraiser, is proud of the fact that this event is implemented so successfully on a grassroots basis.
Three States and 80 Communities
The first Romeo St. Baldrick’s Day event was in 2008. People from three states and 80 communities are expected to shave their heads at the event. The purpose of shaving heads is to show solidarity for children with cancer, who often lose their hair during treatment. This year, more than 5,000 attendees will watch as over 500 people have their heads shaved to benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation!
Your Participation Makes a Difference
The folks at Heidebreicht Chevrolet Romeo, MI, are excited to sponsor this admirable cause where many will “brave the shave” and many more will support them. We hope you’ll join us in our support of this important event on Saturday, March 14 to defeat childhood cancer!
