GM released a website on June 16th, 2014, to keep you informed on the recalls open for your vehicle. In order to perform the look up on your own, you’ll need your vehicle’s 17-digit VIN handy. Please call us if you need help locating the number on your vehicle or contact us online.

If you’re looking specifically for information on the GM Ignition Recall, a website is available for that as well, where you can select your make and model for pertinent information. To summarize the general safety recommendation for all GM ignition recalls, just follow this simple “Key to Safety” while awaiting your repair:

Use a Single Key

Extra weight on the ignition can cause it to switch to the wrong position, which can cause other safety hazards. Therefore, remove all items from your key ring, including the key fob. Thorough testing shows the weight of a single key cannot cause this malfunction.

In addition, make sure your vehicle is in “Park” before exiting. For a manual transmission, put it into reverse. In both types, set the parking brake. Of course, remember to always fasten your seatbelt.

From all of us at Heidebreicht Chevrolet, we appreciate your patience and will do everything we can to keep you and your Chevrolet safe at all times.
