1. Tigerlily Cat Rescue Annual Bowling Fundraiser
Attend this fun event at Classic Lanes, hosted by the Tigerlily Cat Rescue, in Rochester Hills, about 10 miles from Washington. Tickets cost $25 per person and include three games of bowling, soda, and pizza. You can also browse arts and crafts vendors and bid in the silent auction. 2. Turkey Trail Trot and Leftovers Race
This two-day event features runs for the whole family, including both beginners and experienced trail runners. Enjoy food, drinks, and a warm fire pit at the finish line. The Turkey Trail Trot and Leftovers Race takes place Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29 at Stony Creek Metropark, 4300 Main Park Dr. The cost ranges from $40 to $60 depending on your race and includes a commemorative T-shirt, knit hat, and finisher’s medal.
3. Community Volunteer Event: Make Sleeping Mats for the Homeless
Join this volunteer event on November 18 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Bring clean plastic bags, crochet hooks, and a pair of scissors and learn how to make sleeping mats for homeless individuals in the community. The session will take place at the Washington Activity Center, 57780 Van Dyke.
4. Fresh Evergreen Centerpiece Workshop
Make a beautiful, natural centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table. North Pole Nostalgia will teach this class, which includes everything you need to craft your own creation. The workshop will take place Saturday, November 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Big Red Orchard, 4900 32 Mile Rd.
5. Annual Craft and Vendor Show
Take your Chevy on a quick drive to Romeo for the annual craft and vendor show to benefit the Romeo Middle School Band Boosters. The event takes place on November 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shop for holiday gifts from local artisans and business owners. Your little ones can also visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
