2022 Chevy Colorado

A Driver’s Guide to the 2022 Chevy Colorado

With its muscular frame and assertive styling, the 2022 Chevy Colorado certainly looks cool. But it’s the power and capability of this multitalented pickup that continue to make it a firm favorite. Read on to find out more.

The Colorado is Chevy’s second-generation midsize pickup truck. It’s compact and nimble enough for easy handling, but powerful enough to cope with anything you might throw at it. It comes with three available powertrains, four trim levels, and three possible combinations of a short or long box, and an extended or crew cab.

Distinctive Trims

There are four trim levels on the Colorado, giving you the chance to further customize the vehicle to meet your exact needs. These are:

  • WT (base model)
  • LT
  • Z71
  • ZR2

These allow you to choose between four-way and six-way power driver’s seats, a 7 or 8-inch touchscreen, steering wheel-mounted controls, and a host of other options.

The Z71 and the ZR2 have a more rugged build for enhanced off-roading capabilities. The Z71 has a locking differential, hill descent controls, and all-terrain tires to help you navigate the trails. The ZR2 is fitted for even more challenging terrain, with driver-selectable electronic locking differentials on both axles and an off-road package with DSSV Multimatic suspension dampers.

Potent Powertrains

The Colorado’s base engine is a 2.5l four-cylinder, coupled with 6-speed automatic transmission. The 3.6l V6 with an 8-speed transmission has the highest horsepower at 308hp, while the 2.8l diesel four-cylinder is coupled with a 6-speed transmission and offers 369lb-ft of torque.

Intuitive Tech

The base WT model boasts a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, and Bluetooth audio streaming for two devices. All higher-level trims have an 8-inch touchscreen, and available features include a wifi hotspot, USB ports in the front and rear, HD radio, Bose premium sound system, and Chevy’s Infotainment 3 Plus system.

Hauling Vigor

One reason for the Colorado’s continuing popularity is its ability to handle heavy loads. With a maximum payload of 1,550 pounds and nearly 50 cubic feet of cargo space, it’ll hold its own if you’re planning a big trip. But its top towing capacity of 7,700 pounds is even more impressive, and all models come with trailer-sway control to keep you steady on the road.

New for 2022

The 2022 refresh has seen few changes for the Colorado, but the Trail Boss package has become available for the LT and Z71 models. This includes an extra inch of suspension lift and skid plates for added off-roading abilities, while its gloss black rims and black exterior badges give it a distinctive style.

The Chevy Colorado can handle anything you throw at it with panache, and it’s a great choice whether you want to work or play hard. To schedule a test drive and discuss its possibilities, stop by and see us at Heidebreicht Chevrolet.
