1. Stony Creek Metropark

Stony Creek Metropark at 4300 Main Park Road is one of the best places to fish in the Washington Township area. The gate to the park closes at 9 PM, but you can fish from 6 AM to 10 PM. Stony Creek Lake is such a great spot for fishing because it teems with panfish, walleye, bass, and pike. There are also massive crappie that live in this lake.

2. Bald Mountain Recreation Area

We also recommend casting your line at Bald Mountain Recreation Area at 1330 E. Greenshield Road. There are several bodies of water that fish can be found in, including several lakes, Trout Creek, and Paint Creek. Both creeks are designated trout streams, and each lake in the park is teeming with largemouth bass, northern pike, and panfish.

3. Dodge #4 State Park

Dodge #4 State Park at 4250 Parkway Drive is another great place to try to reel in a big one. In this state park, you can fish from a mile-long stretch of shoreline along the 1,280-acre Cass Lake. There is also a wheelchair-accessible fishing pier, and you are allowed to boat and kayak on the lake.

Just keep in mind that if you want to fish from a boat between Memorial Day and Labor Day, you should arrive at the launch site between 8 AM and 10 AM. Parking spots near the designated swim beach fill up quickly. If you don’t have a trailer, you need to park in the Bay Parking area.

4. Metamora-Hadley Recreation Area

Metamora-Hadley Recreation Area at 3871 Herd Road is another great spot for fishing. This 723-acre park is home to Lake Minnawanna and a fishing pier. Most of the anglers that fish here come for the pike, largemouth bass, and bluegill. There is a good chance that you will get several bites here, but it is not just the great fishing opportunity that we love about this recreation area.

There are also lots of other recreational activities you can enjoy here. For instance, it’s a great place for camping, hunting, and metal detecting.
